Brothers and Sisters of Local 18 we hope that the holidays were good to everyone and you are moving forward into 2022. The season is shaping
up to be a good one with funding from both the state and federal level for highway work so we are anticipating a great work year as a result.
A career as an operating engineer for most is considered seasonal and an annual layoff is experienced by most. If you are one of the fortunate
operators who does not experience any downtime be grateful for your position, there are a lot of members who wish they were in your place. I
was always told by the retirees and the journeymen and women” the key to steady work is being versatile”.
